Statement of Purpose


The International World Accreditation Commission offers alternative certification for online universities and distance study programmes.

Laying the foundation for the World Accreditation of International Independent Study offers a system of quality assurance for learners the world over to find innovative providers and accredited study programmes. The purpose of the World Accreditation Commission is to make a key contribution to the future of independent learning and research by ensuring development of standards and improving the quality of self study and degree programs across borders and nations, thereby ensuring and improving the reputation of self study.

The World Accredited symbol signifies membership acceptance that assures the following:

  • Certification of accreditation of institutions and learning organizations offering self study programs
  • Establishment of educational procedural rules and criteria for World Accreditation acceptance,
  • Constant improvement and innovation in the refinement of the accreditation system so that Higher Education Institutions can better assume their responsibility for the quality of teaching and learning,
  • Allied representation of international accreditation system for universal context and participation in the development of Worldwide Higher Education direction, principles and standards (WHE),
  • Refine cooperating with accreditation agencies and other - also foreign - partners from Higher Education Institutions and the student community, government and the teach-guide profession.

The WAC functions to recognize established programs of quality through the following criteria:


  • Your place of learning affects what you gain from the type of environment in teaching and study.
  • Good quality of teaching and learning can be defined as a quality feedback control system and is therefore verifiable. Independent study and institutions supporting it must track learning progress.
  • Evaluation of student's life experiences, credit for previous learning is based on combined factors whose approach should be defined by the student's purpose and aspiration for independent study hence on the verification of the validity of the study goal in conjunction with future career outcomes.
  • Transparency of the accreditation system and independence of the players are indispensable requirements for quality and essential for competition and mobility in an open higher education system that is transparent both horizontally and vertically.
  • Identification of good quality characteristics of teaching and learning and their evaluation requires participation of the Higher Education Institutions and their members, of the government, of international experts and of representatives from the profession.
